At Artfield Institute of Design, we believe design goes beyond the classroom. It is about creating impact, inspiring change and using creativity to make a difference in people’s lives.

This August, Artfield Institute of Design once again joined thousands of Ugandans for the Rotary Cancer Run 2026, one of the country’s most powerful community initiatives dedicated to raising awareness and supporting the fight against cancer.

For us, it was more than just a run. It was a movement. It was about standing with our community, raising awareness and showing solidarity with individuals and families living with and affected by cancer every day.

Cancer touches us all. Many of us have known someone, loved someone or heard a story that reminds us why the fight must continue. That is why we ran.

As Uganda’s leading hands-on design institute, Artfield is committed to equipping students with the practical skills and creative confidence to design their own futures across fashion, interior design, graphic design and film. But our responsibility goes beyond professional training. We believe creativity should come with compassion, purpose and a commitment to humanity.

This year, our students, lecturers, staff and alumni came together as one Artfield family. Wearing our branded T-shirts, carrying banners, blowing whistles and bringing our energy to the streets, we ran not for medals but for hope, awareness and a better future.

We ran for the mother who is still fighting. We ran for the families who have lost loved ones. We ran for everyone whose life has been touched by cancer. We ran for a future where quality cancer care is accessible to every Ugandan.

Because at the end of the day, what is design if it does not impact lives? What is creativity if it does not serve humanity?

This August, we did not just show up. We stood together. We raised awareness. We ran for hope. We ran for life.
