The Interior Design Major Project is the signature milestone of our program at Artfield Institute of Design. After two years of intensive training, students embark on a 16-week project that brings together everything they have learned. This year’s showcase reflected outstanding creativity, technical mastery, and the strengthening future of the interior design industry in Uganda.
The final presentation was attended by some of the most respected figures in the profession. The evaluation panel included Lilian Kiwanuka, Mrs Eva Mynsberghe, David Mukibi, and Leone Nyakecho, all of whom offered deep insight and thoughtful critique. Their presence brought both prestige and academic rigor to the event.
The exhibition featured an impressive range of student work, including 3D video renders, custom-designed furniture, original paintings, and beautifully crafted ornaments. Each project carried a unique design identity, demonstrating strong concept development, creativity, and a solid understanding of contemporary interior design approaches. Beyond the visual work, students also showcased excellent planning, technical skill, and presentation ability.
During the panel discussions, Lilian Kiwanuka, President of the Interior Design Association, commended the students for the high quality of their work. She noted that their costing and budgeting skills were awe-inspiring, pointing out that this is an area many institutions overlook. She went on to affirm that Artfield is and continues to be one of the cornerstones on which Uganda’s creative industry rests.
The Major Project is more than a final assignment. It is a demonstration of readiness, a moment where students step forward as emerging professionals equipped with practical skills, creativity, and confidence. This year’s cohort delivered work that reflects both their personal growth and the program’s strength.
As the showcase concluded, one message was clear. Artfield’s Interior Design graduates are prepared to shape the future of the industry. Their work stands as a testament to their dedication and to the quality of education they have received.
